An afternoon in a little courtyard. Sunlight slants across the painted tiles on the wall — blue curling leaves and pink four-petal flowers, tile after tile, covering the whole wall. A potted plant sways gently in the corner, as if someone has just left.

She sits on the stone steps and traces the lines of each tile with her finger. Back home, she paints that quiet afternoon into ten nails, stroke by stroke — the courtyard, worn on your fingertips.
