Under the tree sit gifts wrapped in kraft paper, tied with red string and tucked with a sprig of berries. Two stockings hang by the fireplace, and everyone is waiting for the countdown.
She paints the excitement of the moment before unwrapping into ten nails, stroke by stroke — each one a surprise not yet opened.
