Milky white, soft yellow and misty blue, hand-painted in cobalt with Portuguese tiles, scrolling vines and flowering branches, finished with gold beads and a fine curve of blue — the Macau of the Ruins of St. Paul's, sloping lanes and wave-patterned cobblestones. Japanese jelly-style finish, every nail hand-painted.

The story behind

Walking down the stone steps of the Ruins of St. Paul's, she turns into a sloping lane. Yellow arcades, blue window frames, and painted tiles glowing a soft blue in the sun; the cobblestones underfoot ripple like waves all the way to the corner.

This is the city she grew up in. She gathers the street corners she has walked countless times into ten nails, stroke by stroke — blue tiles, quiet light, a little Macau in bloom.
