The story behind this painting
The story behind
On the Left Bank of the Seine, the Musée d'Orsay was once a railway station. Beneath its high, arched glass roof, the steel beams and rivets remain, and the old platforms are now hung with nineteenth-century paintings.
At dusk, the setting sun shines through the great clock and tints the whole hall a soft rose. Standing beneath the clock, she could almost hear a distant train whistle. When she came home, she gathered that moment of light, stroke by stroke, into ten little nails — quietly, glowing.
